Certificate verification involves verifying the certificates of professional enhancements, to ensure that the degree and experience claimed by the individual is genuine.

Certification verification is especially important in IT industry, where various special skills and skill set are required for a particular set of work. Certifications like SAP, SAS, PMP, CCNA, PMI, CAPM, PqMP, Novel certification, Linux certification, to name a few needs to be verified for their authenticity.

With the number of dubious institutes growing rapidly in India, where they provide fake certifications without even the candidates attending a course, the need for certification verification is rising in India.

Certification verification might be carried out by a telephonic interview or by going physically to the institute to check the records to ensure that the candidate has indeed attended a course which s/he claims to have done. In certain cases, it can also be checked online with the certification numbers.
