Employee Background Verification
Employee verification is the background verification process conducted by the employer for recruiting a person to service. Employee verification, which may be pre-employment or post-employment, is to make sure that the information provided by the employee is correct. With an industry estimation that up to 47% of resumes can contain false or tweaked information, employers want to ensure that the employee has what they want. The employee background verification entails checking the academic qualifications, previous employee records, and any criminal records. Employee Background Verification comprises of: 1.Employment Verification- It is important to validate if a candidate has been working for as long as they state, in the role they claim and for the salary indicated. The process involves contacting Human Resources/Payroll in previous employers to accurately determine the candidate's history in regards to whom they reported, the dates of employment, position/s held remuneration, responsibilities and reasons for leaving. 2.Education Verification -This helps to confirm the educational details of the candidate, authenticity of the candidate's degree, year of completion and the course pursued. Ideally, education verification should rely on the source institution/university for verification and not on of documents provided by candidates as proof. 3.Criminal Verification -This involves checking directly with the police authorities and helping the employers to identify whether the candidate was involved in any criminal activity. 4.Address Verification -Address Verification ideally involves physically verifying the current and the permanent address of the candidate. 5.Reference Verification -References are conducted with past managers to whom a candidate specifically reported, providing professional impartial references and a valuable perspective of an individual's past performance and behaviors. 6.Database Verification -This helps clients to ascertain if the candidate has been reported for any misconduct. |
